Little Bits of Randomness......

Part of a lovely garden
 we passed this week.

I love the way they are grazing together :)
This photo was taken a while ago. Sadly when we passed by the field earlier this week, they were gone.
We will miss seeing them on our walks.
Such a long lasting plant ( Kalanchoe ) really brightens a
corner outside.
It had previously been inside in the kitchen
where it was enjoyed for quite a few months.
The pinecones were picked straight from a fallen branch
on one of our walks.
I picked them with the purpose of putting them in a bowl
for decoration, but after seeing some little insects on them kept
them outside :)

Mixed Berry and Banana Crumble with Homemade Custard.
Custard was a little thicker than usual but just as tasty.

I mixed some chopped dates with the berries and bananas then
sprinkled a bit of brown sugar on top.The Crumble topping is made from wholemeal flour, oats, sunflower oil , honey, ground almonds, and cinnamon.

The Custard is made from all natural Custard powder, raw cane sugar
and full fat milk.

  1. I enjoyed seeing some of the things you pass by on your walks. We pass horses on our walks...along with chickens, ducks, guineas and an occasional cat or two.

Your crumble looks really good. When you speak of wholemeal would that be something comparable to our whole wheat flour? I have a couple of Paul Hollywood's baking books and there are a few that also call for wholemeal.

I hope you have a lovely weekend, Fiona. I'm so glad to have "met" you.

I would enjoy seeing the Horses, your walks
      sound lovely.

The crumble was good, I made it yesterday and
we have just finished it today.Yes it would
be comparable to your Whole Wheat flour.

      Take care x

  2. So sad that the sheep have gone, I always like to see animals on my walks. It will be conker time soon, perhaps you can find some to mix with your pinecones to make a little outdoor display.

    1. Hello Jo,

Yes it is,they have been there for a long time, some of them were quite unusual breeds as well which was nice to see.
The photos I have shown on posts only show a few of them
but there were actually about twenty of them in the field.

What a great idea about the conkers, that will look really
lovely.Thank you for your suggestion :)

Hope you are having a lovely weekend x

I hope you have a most wonderful Saturday! I am off to clean my china hutch. My tea cups and dishes have lost their sparkle so it's time to clean the dust off {{smiles}} Hugs to you!

I was doing a similar task with my Granny's tea set last
week which was in a cupboard and have started to use it.
I was keeping it for special but every day is Special.

      Hugs to you too,

  5. Such lovely randomness!
I love crumbles, and it's wonderful how you can add just about anything to them. I've never had it with custard...something I should try. :)

  10. Love all the prettiness and yumminess of this post Fiona :)

When I go walking I don't get to see many sheep, but there are always kangaroos keeping an eye on me as I walk passed, they look so cute with their big ears pointing to the sky :)
